Sightseeings and Attractions of Taiwan (ROC)
The Republic of China commonly known as Taiwan is a country of long
history, diversified culture and deep-rooted traditions. Tourists who
travel Taiwan
will be able to indulge into the unique atmosphere of the
Eastern world and learn more about art traditions in Taiwan
and
architecture
of Taiwan when visiting best places of the land.
According to the Flagship Plan drawn by the Tourism Bureau to develop
most prominent sightseeings
and attractions of Taiwan and invite more
visitors, the list of things to see in Taiwan is as follows.
The first place is occupied by Taipei 101, the tallest building not
only in Taiwan’s capital, Taipei,
and the country on the
whole, but in the world, too. Completed by October, 2003 the skyscraper
houses numerous offices, a shopping centre and an observatory offering
a spectacular view over the city. The glass walls mirror the light and
the blue sky during the day, and at night Taipei 101 is beautifully
illuminated.
Another place on top of the list is Taipei’s National Palace
Museum. Standing alongside with such art treasuries as the Louvre, the
Metropolitan Museum of Art and the British Museum, National Palace
boasts ever-growing collections of precious artefacts, so large that it
would take about 12 years to see all of the 650,000 masterpieces; some
works used to belong to private collections of Chinese emperors. Modern
facilities allow visitors to the museum understand the guides whatever
language they might speak and portable audio tour systems let control
the pace of excursion yourself. In October, when some rare or fragile
artefacts are exhibited, it is best to visit the museum. Not far from
the building there lies the beautiful Chihshan Garden where you can not
only marvel at the traditional landscapes, but also have an excellent
meal in the restaurant.
Number three on our list is the Sun Moon Lake of Nantou County with the
Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village being a major tourist attraction.
If you come to visit Sun Moon Lake, don’t miss the Wenwu
Temple and the Tzu-en Pagoda as well.
Next to the Nantou County, Alishan area draws great numbers of tourists
who travel Taiwan with its great sceneries, fresh forest air and the
blossoming springs. It is a great place to take idle walks admiring the
virgin beauty of surrounding nature.
Yushan or Jade Mountain in Chiayi County is the highest mountain in
North-Eastern Asia enjoying great popularity among hikers and
mountaineers and is also worth visiting when you travel Taiwan.
To conclude our brief enumeration we shall mention another gorgeous
national park situated in Pingtung County in the tropical South of
Taiwan, namely, the Kenting National Park. The area is famous for its
coral reefs and sunny beaches that bring relaxation and harmony to
tourists lucky to visit this paradise of a place.
Taiwan is a magic box of the Asian World. The list of sightseeings and
attractions of Taiwan could be endless. However, we’ve named
some most popular tourist destinations of the country that are not to
be missed when you travel Taiwan.
