straightforward Europeans thus presenting a great interest and a
challenging riddle to solve.
Unusual architecture, beautiful faces of Asian women, bright festivals
and busy markets, exquisite culinary delights and distinguished natural
scenes – all these has made the area top-rating destination
for thousands of tourists who
travel Taiwan each year.
In our article here we shall give a brief but when possibly
comprehensive overview of best places to visit in Taiwan, continuing
the topic started in the essay about sightseeings
and attractions of
Taiwan.
The Taiwanese cherish their traditions and honour the prominent figures
in the history of
Taiwan. An evidence of this statement is the great
Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taipei,
considered the Coliseum of
Taiwan. Impressive marble walls of the building raise above the
beautifully planted gardens and the blue pond guarding the quietness of
private exhibitions, while on the sides of the main gate the National
Theater and the National Concert Hall open their doors to the tourists
who travel Taiwan.
The square lying in-between gathers crowds of
spectators during festivals held in Taipei, including the renowned
annual Lantern Festival. Performances held in the above-mentioned
concert halls attract theater-goers from all over the world.
In the outskirts of Taipei the grand mountainous Yang-Ming-Shan
National Park offers beautiful landscapes with waterfalls and lakes,
natural springs and volcanic rocks. Hiking tours let discover the
unique flora and fauna of the area, which is particularly striking in
spring, when everything blossoms. In winter, occasional snows cover the
earth with white veil adding to the charm of the place.
The green slopes of the Lion's Head Mountain in Tri-Mountain National
Scenic Area hide numerous Buddhist
monasteries and temples cut into the caves and the monks may offer you
shelter for the night if you need it. Go some 1,500 steps up to the
Moon Viewing Pavilion on the "head "of the mountain and then follow the
winding path down to the “tail” through the bamboo
wood examining the area closely, or take the 1,5 hour guided bus tour.
Another non-trivial place to visit when you travel Taiwan is the town
of Yingko that lies not far from Taipei. Here, local potters produce
hand-made porcelain masterpieces replicating ancient vases styled a la
Ming Dynasty collection. Ask your guide about a tour and you may have a
unique chance to see the craftsmen at work.
If you still have some more time to spend in Taiwan take your chance to
see the unearthly beauty of the national parks and scenic areas of the
island.
Do chill in a Chinese wooden pavilion at the seaside in Yenliao park,
climb onto the sand-stone cape near Lungtung and relax in the clean
water of Fulung’s beaches.
